The Auditorium + is the Plus version of the Auditorium, the first three-way loudspeaker from Clarisys Audio, a ribbon specialist whose engineers work in Vietnam and Switzerland. Clarisys describes the Auditorium as its second top model. The Auditorium made its debut in Munich at High End 2023 with prices from USD 150,000, and the Plus was listed at USD 149,000 per pair before tariffs pushed it to USD 189,000. The current Mk2 edition is quoted from USD 245,000.

Key specs that matter

Each unit is a single tower of roughly 210 x 93 x 46 cm and weighs about 274 kg without its flight case. The Munich 2023 version was quoted at 210 kg and just over two metres. Clarisys rates the system at 6 ohm nominal, made up of a 9 ohm bass panel, a 4 ohm midrange and a 3.3 ohm tweeter. Efficiency is 92 dB with neodymium magnets in the current specification, against 90 dB in the 2023 data. Bass reaches 20 Hz at -3 dB, and the top end extends past 20 kHz. Crossover points sit at 250 Hz and 5.5 kHz.

Engineering and use context

No cones or boxes are used. Midrange and treble come from two pure aluminium ribbons mounted back to back and driven in phase, so above the lower crossover the speaker radiates as a bipole to the front and rear. The midrange is split into seven 42 mm wide traces, which Clarisys claims is the widest ribbon midrange yet fitted to a loudspeaker, and the tweeter uses three traces. A separate double-sided ribbon panel running almost the full height handles the bass. All ribbons are identical and double-sided, and all motors use neodymium magnets. The crossover is passive, first order and housed in separate outboard boxes, with only four parts per speaker - Jantzen Superior Z capacitors and custom-wound inductors. The frame is a CNC-machined enclosure made entirely of aluminium. Assembly takes place in Hanoi, with final tuning and quality checks in Zwingen, Switzerland. In its crate each speaker exceeds 315 kg, and a shipping weight of 450 kg was quoted in 2023.

Pairing

Clarisys states that valve amplifiers work with the Auditorium through their lower-impedance output transformer taps. Solid-state and valve amplifiers from about 60 W to 200 W per channel, in Class A and Class AB, have been used with the Plus.

The Clarisys Audio Studio is a smaller floorstanding ribbon model of the brand, fitted with neodymium magnets and a double-sided bass panel.
