The V6 Series 4 is the middle size of the fourth-generation V Series from KRK Systems, a family of powered nearfield monitors introduced in 2016 and priced at launch at USD 599 per unit. KRK builds it as a two-way reference speaker for studio tracking and mixing work. The company's own manual sets it against the Rokit 6, which carries 98 W of amplification and a 107 dB SPL rating, to explain why the V6 goes louder before its limiter engages.
Key specs that matter
The low-frequency driver is a 6.5 inch woven Kevlar cone in a cast aluminium basket, powered by a ferrite motor, and above it sits a 1 inch Kevlar dome tweeter, also with a ferrite motor. The crossover point is 1.6 kHz. Two Class-D channels drive the pair separately - 125 W for the woofer and 30 W for the tweeter, 155 W in total - and peak output reaches 115 dB SPL. KRK specifies 49 Hz to 19 kHz at plus or minus 3 dB and a 40 Hz to 24 kHz range at minus 10 dB. The balanced combo input for XLR or TRS plugs presents a 10 kohm impedance. Height is 353 mm, width 231 mm and depth 288 mm, and each unit weighs 9.4 kg.
Engineering and use context
The cabinet pairs an MDF body with a solid aluminium front baffle, and a port on that front face vents the reflex enclosure. KRK fits an EVA foam cushion to the underside, so the monitor can stand directly on a work surface with some isolation from it. On the back, switches handle ground lift, input sensitivity, standby and the front logo LED, and a trim lowers output in half-decibel steps by up to 3 dB when two sets of monitors must play at matched levels. When the unit is switched on or leaves standby, the logo lights after about 3 seconds and signal reaches the drivers a second later, which avoids a thump at power-up, and in standby the logo pulses so the state is visible. Built-in protection shuts the amplifier down after overdrive or overheating and lets it restart once the rear plate has cooled. A power cable, a removable grille with screws and a KRK adjustment key come in the box.
Pairing
The V6 is fed at line level from a balanced interface or console output, and the plus 4 dBu sensitivity position gives more headroom and a lower noise floor with professional equipment. The factory ships the V6 at minus 10 dBV, the position that suits consumer sources and unbalanced outputs, and threaded points on the enclosure accept standard wall brackets where desk space is short.
Alternatives
The KRK V8 Series 4 moves to an 8 inch Kevlar woofer with 200 W on the low channel and extends to 35 Hz within 3 dB.
