A vented two-way arrangement pairs a 1 inch aluminium tweeter dome with diamond coating and a 5.25 inch glass fiber composite mid-woofer, divided at 1.9 kHz. Frequency response is quoted as 44 Hz to 40 kHz within 3 dB. Nominal impedance is 6 ohms and sensitivity is 85 dB, measured at 2.83 V and 1 m in full space and averaged between 300 Hz and 3 kHz. Engineering and use context

A curved front baffle is shaped so that the acoustic centres of the tweeter and woofer sit on one vertical plane, introducing microsecond-level delays that keep both drivers at the same distance from the listener through the crossover region. The tweeter dome gets its diamond-like layer through vapor deposition, which stiffens the aluminium and extends its range well above audibility while also taking its lower limit further down. A diffuser with a semi-random organic cell lattice pattern, optimised by FEA, protects the dome and widens off-axis output, and the tweeter uses silver tinsel leads. For higher output the mid-woofer relies on long throw motor and suspension parts, sits in a cast aluminium alloy frame that also sheds heat, and winds its coil on a vented aluminium former so that loud passages cause less compression of trapped air. The driver baffle is 25 mm thick, the rest of the enclosure uses 18 mm panels with bracing and acoustic insulation, and the chamfered front edges and flush-mounted drivers reduce diffraction. A 1.6 inch flared port fires to the rear, and the cloth grille is held by neodymium magnets.

Pairing

SVS recommends amplifiers delivering 20 to 150 W. At this sensitivity a solid-state amplifier with power in hand is a safer match than a small valve design, and the nominal load is easy for most receivers and integrated amplifiers. Each cabinet has a single pair of gold-plated 5-way terminals, which rules out bi-amping, and elastomer bumper feet are included for shelf use.
