The SoundLink Home is a compact battery-powered Bluetooth speaker from Bose, designed for use around the home and introduced on 1 October 2024 at USD 219, later listed at USD 179. It belongs to the SoundLink family alongside the SoundLink Flex, SoundLink Plus and the larger SoundLink Max. The design pairs a fabric front with an aluminium frame and is offered in Cool Grey, Light Silver and a wood-toned finish.

Inside is one full-range transducer working with two passive radiators. The built-in battery gives up to 9 hours of playback and recharges in 4 hours from a 5 V 1.5 A supply, with 7.5 W charging. Only a USB-C cable is supplied, without a power adapter. Bluetooth 5.3 supports the SBC and AAC codecs, reaches about 9 m and connects two devices at once through multipoint. A USB-C port also works as a wired audio input. Two SoundLink Home speakers can be paired as a stereo set. The speaker measures 216 x 110 x 59 mm and weighs 0.928 kg.

Engineering and use context

A single full-range driver covers the whole audible band, avoiding a crossover inside such a small housing. The two passive radiators are driven by the pressure changes inside the enclosure and extend the bass output beyond what the small driver could produce alone, without the need for a port. Materials listed by Bose are aluminium, fabric, nylon, plastic, silicone and steel. A built-in microphone handles calls and voice assistant commands from a connected phone. There is no companion app, so all functions are controlled from buttons on the speaker and from the source device. The SoundLink Home has no water or dust protection, so it is intended for indoor use on shelves, desks and bedside tables. The speaker can run from a USB power source while it plays.

Pairing

Any phone, tablet or computer with Bluetooth works as a source, and AAC support suits Apple devices in particular. A second SoundLink Home turns the pair into a stereo system for a desk or a room of about 20 m2.
