The 901 60th Anniversary Edition is a limited collaboration between Bose, Kith founder Ronnie Fieg and furniture designer Mark Jupiter, created to mark six decades of the company. Rather than a new production model, it is a set of 12 original 901 speakers that were refurbished and reimagined, and the pairs went only to friends and family of Ronnie Fieg, so the edition was never offered to the public.

Engineering and use context

The underlying 901 was introduced in 1968 and uses a nine-driver Direct/Reflecting layout, with eight drivers facing the rear and one facing forward. The anniversary pieces keep that arrangement and add a new presentation, with the base and head frame in either white-washed ash or natural air-dried walnut, sculptural brass stems, rounded wooden bases and a period-correct mesh fabric covering the drivers at the front and back.
