The SCM200ASL Pro is an ATC main studio monitor with three-way active operation, built for large control rooms and able to stand on its own base or be recessed into a soffit. Unlike the SCM100ASL Pro and SCM150ASL Pro, it does not carry its amplifiers inside the cabinet. Instead, every cabinet gets its own external P4 amplifier in a rack case, so a stereo system arrives with two P4 units, one per channel. The same P4 also powers the SCM300ASL Pro. ATC states that the drivers, cabinets and electronics of the system are hand-built and assembled in-house in the UK, and the cabinet finish is black ash wood.

Key specs that matter

The baffle holds two 314 mm (12-inch) Super Linear bass drivers, a 75 mm Super Dome midrange and a soft dome tweeter listed at 34 mm, with both the dome units loaded by waveguides. Measured free-standing, the -6 dB points are 32 Hz and 20 kHz, and in a soffit the lower limit extends to 25 Hz. Linearity within 2 dB covers 60 Hz to 12 kHz. Continuous output reaches 118 dB SPL at 1 m, and dispersion is coherent over 80 degrees to either side and 10 degrees above and below the axis. Each cabinet measures 832 x 728 x 424 mm (HxWxD) and weighs 79 kg. Every P4 delivers 850 W in total - 275 W into 8 ohm for each woofer, 200 W into 16 ohm for the midrange and 100 W into 6 ohm for the tweeter.

Engineering and use context

The P4 is a four-channel, three-way monoblock with class A/B output stages in ATC's grounded source topology. Its fourth-order active crossover divides the band at 380 Hz and 3.5 kHz and includes phase correction, and fast FET soft limiting protects the drivers, with extra thermal protection for the tweeter. Frequency response of the amplifier itself is 5 Hz to 20 kHz within 0.1 dB, noise sits more than 105 dB below signal and crosstalk is better than 90 dB. Three fans cool the chassis, which is a 19-inch rack unit 5U high (222 mm) and 538 mm deep, weighing 35.8 kg. Mains voltage is 100, 115 or 230 V, set at the factory for the region at 50 or 60 Hz. The P4 is only sold as part of an ATC active system, and the monitors carry a 6-year warranty.

Pairing

Each P4 has a balanced XLR input wired pin 2 hot, needing 2 V for full output, with an input impedance above 10 kohm. A console, monitor controller or balanced preamplifier drives it directly.

Alternatives

The ATC SCM150ASL Pro is a smaller single-woofer option with a 375 mm SL bass driver and a 350 W tri-amplifier built into the cabinet.
