The prophecy1, introduced in July 2025 as the direct replacement for the twenty5.21i, is the smallest two-way model of the Prophecy home audio range from PMC, the British maker known for transmission line loudspeakers. It is handbuilt in Britain, finished in real wood veneers and sold and shipped as a pair. Prices at launch were GBP 2,875, EUR 3,490 and USD 4,300 per pair, and PMC offers the optional RS302 stands at GBP 250. The cabinet brings together the latest iteration of PMC's ATL bass loading and the proprietary LaminairX airflow technology in a compact standmount box.
Key specs that matter
PMC fits a 125 mm LT XL driver with a mineral-filled cone and a cast alloy chassis for the low range, paired with a 27 mm soft dome tweeter above a 1.5 kHz hand-over. PMC states a response of 50 Hz to 20 kHz at -3 dB, a sensitivity of 85 dB SPL for 1 W at 1 m and a nominal impedance of 6 ohm. Suggested amplifier power spans 20 W to 200 W. Each cabinet measures 400 mm high, 165 mm wide and 260 mm deep, with a further 23 mm for the terminals and 10 mm for the grille, and weighs 10.3 kg.
Engineering and use context
The woofer is backed by a folded ATL path of 1.79 m effective length, and the enclosure rests on a cast-aluminium base. It is much heavier than the 6 kg twenty5.21i it succeeds. The line ends in a LaminairX vent, PMC's airflow profile for the exit of the line, whose fins reduce disparity in the airflow as it leaves the line. Input is a single pair of 4 mm binding posts finished in satin nickel, so the speaker is designed for single wiring only. Grilles attach magnetically and are covered in a textured woven fabric. Three veneers are offered, namely Medium Oak, Blackened Walnut and Natural Walnut, and PMC covers Prophecy models with a 20-year warranty.
Pairing
The modest sensitivity and the 6 ohm class load mean the prophecy1 calls for a transistor amplifier with generous output, rather than a small low-power valve design. The single terminal pair keeps cabling simple, needing a single cable run to each cabinet from any conventional stereo amplifier, and the RS302 stands are the matching PMC support for the cabinet.
Alternatives
The earlier PMC twenty5.22i is a bigger two-way standmount model from the twenty5i line.
