The PMC15 is a three-way active main monitor from The Professional Monitor Company (PMC) of Biggleswade, England, unveiled at NAMM in January 2026 as part of the new Main Monitor Series that marked the company's 35th anniversary. PMC calls the series its first complete reinvention of main monitoring systems in more than three decades, and it opened with four models - PMC10, PMC12, PMC15 and PMC10-4. The PMC15 follows the BB5 and BB6 line, used in recording, mixing and mastering rooms for over 35 years. It is a large freestanding cabinet rather than a compact stand-mount speaker.

Key specs that matter

A 34 mm soft-dome tweeter, a 75 mm PMC75v3 soft-dome midrange and a newly developed 15-inch bass driver form the driver complement. The woofer loads an Advanced Transmission Line with an effective length of 4.0 m. Quoted frequency response runs from 16 Hz to 25 kHz, maximum continuous SPL is 113 dB and peak SPL reaches 127 dB. Amplification per channel totals 3,600 W, split into 800 W for the tweeter, 800 W for the midrange and 2,000 W for the bass unit. Each cabinet measures 1,040 mm high, 432 mm wide and 790 mm deep, plus 20 mm for the woofer surround, and weighs 97 kg. Inputs take analogue signals and digital audio up to 192 kHz.

Engineering and use context

The 15-inch woofer uses a double-stacked magnet assembly and a three-layer 3-inch voice coil. Across the series, the new bass drivers have heavily vented motors, dual spiders and up to 36 mm of linear excursion, more than three times that of the previous generation. The midrange dome sits behind the n-compass dual-profile waveguide, which widens dispersion through the crossover region, and its a-void absorber - a long damped chamber behind the dome - stops rear-wave reflections from returning through it. The electronics live outside the cabinet. A 3U rack unit called the master36 combines 32-bit DSP crossovers with six Class-D amplifier channels and excursion protection, and it is set up over a standard LAN through the SoundAlign2 browser interface, which manages up to 32 loudspeakers in one installation.

Pairing

No external power amplifier is involved, so the PMC15 connects straight to a monitor controller, console or audio interface through its analogue or digital inputs. It can grow into a twin-cabinet XBD configuration with a second bass enclosure, and the series also includes standalone subwoofers built with the same drivers and cabinets. Because dispersion and voicing are shared across the range, PMC15 cabinets can be combined with smaller models from the series in multichannel and Dolby Atmos Music rooms.
