Key specs that matter

Drivers are a 1-inch titanium dome tweeter behind a mesh screen, a 5.25-inch midrange and an 8-inch woofer, crossed over at 250 Hz and 2 kHz. Frequency response is 35 Hz to 20 kHz within ±3 dB, and nominal impedance is 4 ohms. Sensitivity is 90 dB in room and 86 dB anechoic, and maximum output reaches 112 dB. Recommended amplifier power is 20 to 600 W. The cabinet measures 571 x 267 x 250 mm and weighs 19 kg.

Engineering and use context

The fluted port on the rear follows Bryston's Reflex Vortex design used across the T10 range, and the sides are bevelled, with the rear third of the cabinet tapered. Six binding posts on the back connect in different ways depending on which of the four supplied modules is fitted - single-amp, bi-amp, tri-amp or active. Swapping the module converts a passive Mini T10 into a bi-amped, tri-amped or active loudspeaker without replacing the speaker itself. The active module works with Bryston's BAX-1 processor, which splits the signal digitally before three separate amplifiers. The crossover points shared across all T10 models allow them to be mixed in one system. The front baffle is up to 38 mm thick and braced internally. The cabinet comes in Walnut, Boston Cherry or Black Ash as standard, with a removable logo plate on the front, and the speakers are made in Dwight, Ontario, with a 20-year warranty.

Pairing

The 4 ohm load and modest sensitivity call for an amplifier with solid current, such as a Bryston power amplifier. The rear port needs some space behind the speaker, and sturdy stands suit the heavy cabinet in a room of 20 m2 or more.
