The iLoud Precision 6 MKII is the second generation of the two-way active studio monitor made by the Italian company IK Multimedia under its iLoud name. It sits in the Precision series alongside a smaller Precision 5 and a three-way Precision MTM, and it ships with a MEMS measurement microphone and a set of iLoud Isolation Pods in the box. UK pricing at launch in early 2026 was between about GBP 698 and GBP 749 per monitor, and each speaker is sold singly.

Key specs that matter

A 6.5 inch paper midwoofer is joined by a 1.5 inch semi-dome tweeter reinforced with graphene. A custom Class D amplifier stage delivers 150 W RMS in total. IK quotes a response of 45 Hz to 30 kHz within 1 dB, with low-frequency extension reaching 37 Hz at the -4 dB point. Maximum continuous output is 103 dB SPL, and peaks can reach 115.2 dB. Inputs are balanced XLR and 6.35 mm jack, with no RCA, mini jack or digital input. Each cabinet measures 353 mm high, 201 mm wide and 282 mm deep, and weighs 8.5 kg.

Engineering and use context

All signal processing runs digitally at 96 kHz, and the crossover between the two drivers is a linear phase design intended to keep the drivers aligned in time. Compared with the first generation, the HDF cabinet has refined construction and improved internal bracing aimed at lower enclosure resonance. Low-frequency loading is by bass reflex, and the port is positioned on the rear panel. The midwoofer is a custom-made unit rather than an off-the-shelf driver. The rear panel also carries manual volume and frequency controls, and an auto standby function switches the monitor off after a period without signal. An optional footswitch lets the user change between stored profiles in the IK ARC X software, and the monitor is compatible with the multichannel edition of ARC X for setups with more than two speakers. The supplied Isolation Pods are custom designed to decouple the cabinet from the desk or stand it rests on and reduce vibration transfer into that surface.

Pairing

Since each cabinet contains its own power stage, the monitor takes a line signal directly from an interface, a mixing desk or a monitor controller over balanced or unbalanced cable, and a volume-controlled source is needed since there is no separate integrated amplifier in the chain. The absence of a digital input means a DAC or interface has to handle conversion before the signal reaches the speaker.
