The Phantom Ultimate CI 98 dB is the compact member of the custom installation Phantom Ultimate series from Devialet of Paris. The series was announced in July 2026 and made its public debut at the CEDIA Expo 2026 in Denver in early September, aimed at integrators building whole-home audio, private cinemas and commercial sound systems. It carries over the acoustic figures of the consumer Phantom Ultimate 98 dB but swaps the wireless platform for a wired professional network.

Key specs that matter

Amplification totals 400 W, and the quoted frequency range is 18 Hz to 25 kHz at plus or minus 6 dB. Processing runs at 32 bit and 96 kHz with a system latency of 18 ms, a figure Devialet presents as fit for home theater and for most live and multiroom work. Buyers receive five years of professional Devialet Care warranty, longer than the cover for the consumer version. Prices and delivery dates were not published at announcement.

Engineering and use context

Instead of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the speaker relies on wired Dante networking from Audinate plus general AoIP transport. A single standard Ethernet cable runs from each unit to the network switch, carrying uncompressed audio with no need for separate Dante adapters. The embedded Dante platform handles up to 128 channels in each direction. Power over Ethernet is absent, so every unit requires a mains connection. Setup and monitoring are done through a web browser interface, and an open native IP control API allows third-party control, and control platforms such as Control4, Crestron and Savant, along with RTI and NICE ELAN, were promised certified drivers during late 2026. Integrators can limit the maximum volume per speaker. Out of the box the unit runs in Monitoring Mode with a flat response, leaving equalisation to the upstream Dante matrix or external DSP.

Pairing

Signals can come from any Dante matrix, processor or AoIP device on the network. The CI 98 dB can be combined with the larger CI 108 dB in a single system, for example compact units in secondary rooms and the larger model in a main space. Buyers can choose an ultra-matte off-white Light Pearl, a green Deep Forest trimmed in black chrome, or the Opera de Paris edition gilded by hand in 22 karat gold. For placement, Devialet offers the Tree stand and the Gecko mount, while the Treepod is reserved for the 108 dB model.
