The ELAC Debut 3.0 DB63 belongs to the third generation of the Debut range as a passive design with two drivers, and its BK code denotes the Black Ash vinyl finish with a satin black vinyl front. It sits above the smaller DB53 in the Debut 3.0 family, taking a larger woofer and a deeper cabinet than that model, listed in the US at USD 449.98 per pair. The Debut 3.0 series arrived in autumn 2024 with seven models, following the Debut 2.0 generation from 2018.

A 6.5 inch aramid fibre woofer works with a newly developed 1 inch aluminium dome tweeter, crossing over at 2,000 Hz. Stated frequency range is 42 Hz to 38 kHz, a nominal impedance of 6 ohm and a sensitivity of 87 dB measured at 2.83 V and 1 m. ELAC suggests amplification between 20 and 140 W per channel, while peak power handling is given as 120 W. Each cabinet measures 195 mm wide, 339 mm high and 298 mm deep and weighs 7.85 kg.

Engineering and use context

ELAC describes the aramid fibre cone as a material with high strength and rigidity relative to its mass, which is the reason it was chosen for the bass and midrange work in this generation. The aluminium dome tweeter was designed for this series with a wider dispersion pattern as one of its stated goals. The enclosure is built from CARB2 rated MDF 16 mm thick and extra internal bracing is fitted to reduce panel vibration. Bass reflex loading uses two flared ports on the rear, whereas the previous generation vented to the front. Series-wide changes also include a custom aluminium phase plug, a soft touch front baffle and magnetic grilles, and the new tweeter replaced the soft dome used before. Each cabinet carries one set of 5-way metal terminals. The Debut 3.0 line as a whole shares the aramid woofer and aluminium tweeter concept, which lets the DB63 be combined with other models of the series for surround systems.

Pairing

Because ELAC's recommendation starts low, the DB63 works with modest integrated amplifiers or AV receivers, and its top figure still permits more powerful electronics. For multichannel systems the Debut 3.0 series adds the DC53 and DC63 centre speakers and the DA43 Dolby Atmos enabled on-wall model.
