The Cue-100 is a two-way standmount loudspeaker designed and built by Lyngdorf Audio in Skive, Denmark. It was announced in 2023 and became available in March of that year at EUR 19,980 per pair. Development was led by Thomas Birkelund, Anker Haldan and Roland Hoffmann, and the speaker ships with its own oak-legged stand.

Key specs that matter

A Kapton foil Air Motion Transformer with a neodymium magnet covers the treble, crossing at 2,300 Hz to an 18 cm aluminium cone mid/woofer. That driver carries a 39 mm four-layer voice coil of copper-clad aluminium on a fibreglass former and sits in a vented die-cast basket. Two 18 cm aluminium passive radiators with the same surround design reinforce the low end. The quoted range is 35 Hz to 22 kHz at the -3 dB points, sensitivity is 83 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m, nominal impedance is 4 ohm and power handling is 250 W. Without the stand the cabinet is 350 mm wide, 513 mm tall and 329 mm deep and weighs 13.8 kg, while with the stand fitted the figures become 597 x 1196 x 520 mm and 16.2 kg.

Engineering and use context

The active cone and the passive radiators are long-stroke ultra-low-distortion units from Purifi, whose surround shape uses alternating ridges to lower distortion. With passive radiators doing the bass loading, the enclosure has no reflex opening. The triangular cabinet has three tapered and slightly rounded sides CNC machined from 35 mm thick MDF, a shape chosen to reduce resonance and internal standing waves, and solid oak elements complete it. Cabinet paint is satin, in black or white. The included stand, machined from solid oak or MDF, also stiffens the cabinet. The base is offered in white with oak, black with oak, all white or all black, and five fabric covers can be chosen - grey, black, petrol blue, dusty green and red - or the speaker can be used with no grille, giving 24 colour combinations in total. Cable connection is by gold-plated terminals, and the warranty runs for 7 years.

Pairing

The low sensitivity and low nominal impedance mean the partner amplifier should deliver ample current into low impedances. Lyngdorf's own TDAI integrated amplifiers are the obvious in-house match, since they are built to drive a stereo pair from digital and streamed sources with a single box.

Alternatives

The Lyngdorf MH-3 is a much smaller two-way bookshelf model from the same brand, built in a closed 0.8 litre cabinet for wall mounting.
