The M-100 PRO is a sealed, over-ear DJ headphone made by V-MODA, the headphone brand owned by Roland, launched in June 2025 together with the smaller M-10 and built for professional DJ work in booths and on tour. It follows the original M-100 with a new driver, a reworked folding frame and parts the owner can swap. The US price is USD 299.99, and the European recommended price is EUR 329.

Key specs that matter

A 50 mm dual-diaphragm driver with a ceramic coating and an integrated bass duct sits in each cup, wound with CCAW coils made in Japan. Frequency response runs from 5 Hz to 40,000 Hz. Impedance is 32 ohm with a tolerance of 3 ohm, and sensitivity is quoted at 103 dB, also plus or minus 3 dB, at 1 kHz and 1 mW. The headphone weighs 319 g and carries Hi-Res Audio certification from the Japan Audio Society. It is specified for operation from -10 to +50 degrees Celsius at up to 95 percent humidity.

Engineering and use context

The headband and arms are metal, with a padded and branded band on top. Cup mounts swivel and the band can twist, which allows one cup to be held against the ear while the other is turned away during cueing. Hinges let the cups fold for storage. The cups plug into the frame, so a whole cup assembly can be replaced by the user, as can the memory foam pads and the outer shields used for customisation. The band lining is synthetic leather. Both supplied cables detach and twist to lock - a 1.5 m straight lead for everyday listening and a 3 m coiled one for use at a mixer. Either cup accepts the cable, a blanking plug closes the unused socket, and the plugs are colour-coded, red for right and black for left. The box also contains a carrying pouch, a 6.3 mm jack adapter, a V-MODA sticker and a manual.

Pairing

As an efficient, low-impedance design, the M-100 PRO is designed to be driven straight from the cue socket of a DJ mixer or controller, and it also works from phones and laptops using the shorter lead. The jack adapter covers studio interfaces and mixers with a full-size socket, while the coiled lead gives reach from a booth mixer. Because the cable can go into either cup, a DJ can route it to whichever side faces the mixer.

Alternatives

The V-MODA M-10 is the lighter and cheaper closed-back model from the same launch, at 275 g and EUR 170, using a dual-diaphragm driver of the same size but without the ceramic coating, bass ducts or swivel cups.
