Engineering and use context

Connection is by Bluetooth 5.0 with HFP 1.7, A2DP 1.3 and AVRCP 1.6 profiles, operating in the 2.4 GHz to 2.4835 GHz band at under 10 dBm transmitter power with GFSK, pi/4 DQPSK and 8DPSK modulation. Multi-point connection lets the headphone hold two source devices and move between them, for example from a tablet video to a phone call. With Google Fast Pair, Android phones connect almost at once. Besides noise cancelling, the Ambient Aware mode raises outside sounds, while TalkThru lowers the music and brings speech forward for short conversations. A voice assistant can be called by voice or with a tap on the earcup, and Hey Google can switch ANC or Ambient Aware, report battery status and power the unit off. The microphone sensitivity is quoted at -19 dBV at 1 kHz per Pa, and the call system handles stereo calls through buttons on the earcup. Auto Play and Pause stops the music when the headphone is removed and resumes it when worn again. The fabric headband and soft ear cushions shape the fit, and the maximum operating temperature is 45 degrees C.

Pairing

The box contains the headphone, an audio cable, a Type-C charging cable, a carrying pouch and printed guides. Through the My JBL Headphones app the owner can change EQ presets, pick the preferred voice assistant and set the Smart Ambient behaviour. The analogue cable allows use with sources that have no Bluetooth, for instance an aircraft entertainment socket or a laptop jack. A warranty and warning sheet plus a quick start and safety sheet complete the contents.
