The Kima 2 Raven Teal is an in-ear monitor with one dynamic driver per side from DUNU, a new colour edition of the Kima 2 that the maker announced on 16 January 2026. The original Kima 2 was released in January 2025, and the Raven Teal version arrived with an internal upgrade at an unchanged launch price of USD 109.99. DUNU describes the changes as inspired by its limited Vernus model and by the Falcon Ultra, and the matte teal finish replaces the earlier colourway without altering the shape of the shells.
Key specs that matter
Each earpiece carries one dynamic driver with a DLC composite dome diaphragm, rated at an impedance of 20 ohm and 108 dB per mW sensitivity at 1 kHz, which equals 125 dB per Vrms. The frequency response for the Kima 2 family is quoted as 5 Hz to 40 kHz, and total harmonic distortion stays below 0.3 percent at 1 kHz. The shells are machined from 316L stainless steel and weigh about 10.5 g each. The cable attaches with 0.78 mm 2-pin connectors, is 1.2 m long and uses four cores of single-crystal copper and silver-plated single-crystal copper under a nylon cover.
Engineering and use context
DLC stands for diamond-like carbon, a hard coating deposited on the dome to stiffen it while keeping its mass low. For this edition DUNU reports an improved deposition process that spreads the DLC layer more uniformly across the diaphragm. The second change is the motor, since the Raven Teal adopts the high flux density magnetic circuit used in the Falcon Ultra, which the company says gives the driver more control and efficiency. The magnet sits outside the diaphragm assembly in an external magnetic design. The Q-Lock Mini system lets the owner swap the termination plug by hand, and both a 3.5 mm single-ended and a 4.4 mm balanced plug are in the box. The bundle also contains several sets of tips, including DUNU Candy and S&S types, an acrylic display stand, a zip case, a pouch, a shirt clip and a cleaning tool. Because the 2-pin sockets follow a common standard, the cable can be replaced with aftermarket leads.
Pairing
With these figures the earphones reach normal listening levels from a phone dongle or a portable player with little gain. The balanced plug suits players and DAC-amplifiers with a balanced output, and a source with low output impedance avoids shifting the response of this load.
Alternatives
The DUNU Falcon Ultra is a single dynamic driver in-ear monitor with a 10.7 mm ECLIPSE driver, 16 ohm impedance and MMCX connectors.
