The Headphone (1) marks the debut of Nothing in the over-ear category, a wireless closed-back model with adaptive noise cancellation and a driver developed together with KEF. Pre-orders opened on 4 July 2025, with prices set at USD 299, EUR 299 and GBP 249, and it comes in White or Black. The housing combines rigid plastic with aluminium in key structural areas, and the earcups carry a partially see-through coating. The KEF partnership is marked on the product as Sound by KEF.

Key specs that matter

A custom 40 mm dynamic driver with a nominal impedance of 16 ohm sits in each earcup. Its diaphragm is PU with a nickel coating, mounted on a high-linearity suspension with a wide TPU surround. Nothing quotes a frequency response of 20 Hz to 40,000 Hz. The 1,040 mAh lithium-ion cell runs for up to 80 hours with noise cancellation off and up to 35 hours with it on. Topping up from empty through the USB-C port takes roughly two hours, and five minutes on the charger adds about 5 hours of music. The headphone weighs 329 g, while its carry case weighs 264 g.

Engineering and use context

Bluetooth 5.3 gives a range of about 10 metres, and dual connection keeps two source devices paired at the same time. Codec support spans SBC, AAC, LHDC and LDAC, and the model carries Hi-Res Audio certification. Real-time adaptive noise cancellation responds to the surroundings, an ambient mode lets the wearer hear the surroundings, and four microphones form an AI-backed environmental noise cancellation array for calls. Nothing chose physical controls over touch panels - a rotary wheel for volume, a side lever for playback, a multifunction button for noise cancellation, EQ or the voice assistant, and a dedicated Bluetooth pairing button. The Nothing X app for Android and iOS offers manual and preset equalisation and switches on spatial audio.

Pairing

Wireless use covers phones, tablets and computers, and Android sources with LDAC or LHDC can take advantage of the higher-resolution codecs. In the box are a double-ended USB-C lead that carries digital audio from a laptop or phone and a USB-C to 3.5 mm lead for analogue sources such as an airline seat socket or a dedicated music player.

Alternatives

The Nothing Headphone (a) is the brand's lower-priced over-ear model launched in March 2026 at USD 199, keeping the same driver size and noise cancelling system while adding IP52 protection and physical roller controls.
