The sNH-10G is an audiophile-grade network switch from SOtM, built specifically to address the noise conventional network devices introduce into a high-end streaming audio system. SOtM developed this switch after discovering measurable sound quality differences between various network devices, with no existing product on the market addressing that specific problem - the sNH-10G represents the brand's purpose-built solution.

Key specs that matter

Eight RJ-45 LAN ports and two SFP fibre-optic ports are provided, supporting IEEE 802.3 10Base-T, 802.3u 100Base-TX and 100Base-FX, 802.3ab 1000Base-T and 802.3z 1000Base-X gigabit standards, full and half-duplex operation, and jumbo packets up to 9216 bytes. Every LAN port incorporates SOtM's proprietary filtering technology, engineered specifically because Ethernet-borne noise spans a wide frequency band - SOtM selected individual components matched to specific noise frequencies and combined them into a comprehensive wide-band noise filter, a technology also shared with the brand's iSO-CAT6 product. An ultra-low-noise regulator and an active noise canceller for the internal clock further reduce noise entering the audio chain. Input voltage is 9Vdc as standard, optionally 12Vdc or 6.5-8.5Vdc when the optional sCLK-EX internal clock module with 10MHz master clock input is installed. At 296 x 211 x 50mm, the switch uses a luxurious aluminium body with a beautifully carved design, and comes in silver faceplate for the base model or black faceplate for the sCLK-EX-equipped version.

Sound and use context

Expect more realistic textures, a wider soundstage and explosive dynamics without losing detail across the entire frequency range - the sNH-10G is intended to replace a conventional network switch and is used in some of the most elaborate reference streaming setups documented by enthusiast communities.

Pairing

The optional sCLK-EX module with 10MHz master clock input lets this switch synchronise with SOtM's own sCLK-OCX10 external clock, and pairing with SOtM's dCBL-CAT7 high-performance network cable and sPS-500 linear power supply further maximises the sound quality gains this switch is designed to deliver.

Alternatives

SOtM's sCLK-OCX10 master clock forms the natural companion device for a system built around this switch, worth pairing together for an optimised network audio front end aimed at extracting maximum performance from streaming-based playback.
