The usable range runs from 2 kHz to 30 kHz, which places the LM-597 above a midrange horn in a three-way or larger system. Power handling is rated at 6 W and the nominal impedance is 24 ohms, an unusually high value that must be considered in the design of the crossover. The field coil is specified for 7 V DC excitation.

Pairing

Besides an amplifier channel and a horn suited to its lower crossover point, the LM-597 needs a dedicated low-voltage DC power supply for its field coil. The low power rating matches it to low-power tube amplifiers and to high-efficiency horn systems.
