The Line Magnetic HT-70Cu is a field-coil high-frequency horn driver, a super tweeter intended to extend the top end of a horn loudspeaker system. The Cu version uses a copper horn, while the HT-70 family is also offered with an aluminium horn.

Key specs that matter

The driver covers 3 kHz to 30 kHz, so it is meant to work above a crossover rather than as a full-range unit. Sensitivity is 106 dB and power handling is 15 W. The magnet is excited by a DC supply of 160 V at 50 mA.

Engineering and use context

Instead of a permanent magnet, the HT-70Cu uses a field coil, an electromagnet that must be powered continuously. This is the approach used in the vintage American designs that Line Magnetic reproduces, and it means a separate excitation power supply is part of any build.

Pairing

With its high sensitivity, the HT-70Cu suits high-efficiency horn systems driven by low-power tube amplifiers, and it needs an external crossover to feed it only its upper range.
