The MLC-5 is the loudspeaker cable of Analog Music, the cable line offered alongside the Analog Sound valve amplifiers and horn speakers from Line Magnetic. Analog Music states that its cables are designed specifically for tube amplification and horn systems. The MLC-5 is supplied as a 3 m pair.
Key specs that matter
The conductors are a silver alloy, and both ends carry spade terminals. These connectors are made of rhodium-plated alloy and are joined to the wire by cold welding rather than solder, a method the maker chooses for conductivity and long-term reliability.
Engineering and use context
Analog Music builds the MLC-5 with the same labour-intensive process used across its range. A proprietary treatment of the conductors targets interference and resonance, while the conductor layout is set to keep capacitance, inductance and skin effect low. After hand assembly the cable is stabilised, electrostatically coated and covered with an anti-vibration sleeve of mixed fibres, and it goes through a week of burn-in and inspection before release.
Pairing
Spade lugs suit the screw terminals found on Line Magnetic and Analog Sound amplifiers, such as the AS-125 with its 4, 8 and 16 ohm taps. The MLC-3 interconnect and MLC-6 power cord complete the Analog Music set.
