The MLC-3 is a stereo RCA interconnect sold under the Analog Music name, the cable range that accompanies the Analog Sound tube electronics made by Line Magnetic. The maker describes the whole range as purpose-built for vacuum tube amplifiers and horn loudspeaker systems, and calls the MLC-3 the top model of the line. It comes as a pair, 1.5 m long.
Key specs that matter
The conductors are pure silver, and the RCA plugs are silver plated and attached by hot soldering. Analog Music applies its own four-stage soldering technique to these joints.
Engineering and use context
The MLC-3 is built to what Analog Music calls its Special Structure design. The conductors receive a proprietary chemical treatment intended to reduce electromagnetic interference and resonance, and the geometry is controlled to limit skin effect, capacitance and inductance. Each cable is assembled by hand on custom fixtures, then mechanically stabilised, given an electrostatic coating and wrapped in a hybrid-fibre anti-vibration sleeve. Every finished cable runs a one-week burn-in and quality check before it ships.
Pairing
As a line-level link, the MLC-3 fits between a source or preamplifier and an amplifier with RCA inputs, for example the Analog Sound AS-125, which offers four pairs of them. Within the same range, the MLC-5 covers the speaker connection and the MLC-6 the mains supply.
