The Titania MK2 is the Titania Power Amplifier MK2 from Fezz Audio of Poland, a stereo valve power amplifier intended for use after a separate line preamplifier. It belongs to the MK2 generation of the Evolution line, which Fezz launched together with a Titania MK2 integrated amplifier and a Mira Ceti MK2. The maker says the power amplifier goes beyond minor revisions, with redesigned input and driver stages and higher output per channel.

Key specs that matter

Maximum output is 60 W per channel from a class AB circuit, with separate 4 ohm and 8 ohm output taps for different loudspeaker loads. Distortion is given as below 0.05 percent, measured at 1 kHz and full power. The frequency response spans 16 Hz to 120 kHz. Power draw is 170 W at idle and 270 W at full output. Its chassis is 420 x 380 x 240 mm and weighs 21 kg net. Signal enters through one pair of RCA sockets or one pair of XLR sockets, and a 12 V trigger input lets another component turn the amplifier on.

Engineering and use context

Four KT88 valves form the output stage, while 12AX7 valves serve the input and driver stages. The balanced XLR input is new for this generation, since the earlier version offered no balanced connection. Across the MK2 series Fezz introduced redesigned signal paths, revised driver stages and upgraded operating stability, together with automatic bias control, electronic valve protection, an optimised warm-up sequence and support for FEBS expansion modules. On this model the bias control continuously keeps the valves at their intended operating point without any user adjustment. The newly developed electronic protection system guards the power valves and replaces the traditional fuses, and it also improves resistance to improper operating conditions. A preheating mode warms the valves gradually ahead of normal playback. A protective valve cage is included in the box. Seven lacquer colours are listed, among them Burning Red, EverGreen and Moonlight. The launch price was USD 4,250 or EUR 3,750.

Pairing

Lacking any volume control, the Titania MK2 needs a line preamplifier or a source with adjustable output. The XLR input accepts balanced preamplifier outputs and the RCA pair takes single-ended ones, while the trigger connection works with preamplifiers that provide a trigger output.
