The Fezz Titania Power Amplifier is a two-channel KT88 valve power amplifier built by the Polish company Fezz Audio, listed in its manual under the model name Titania PA within the Evolution line. Fezz describes it as a new version derived from its Titania tube integrated amplifier, with the volume and source stages removed so that an external preamplifier drives it. A switch on the back lets the owner run it either as a two-channel amplifier or as a single bridged mono channel.
Key specs that matter
Rated output is 2 x 45 W in stereo, or 1 x 90 W when the two channels are bridged into mono. The output stage runs as a push-pull design in class AB1 and offers separate 4 ohm and 8 ohm speaker taps. Harmonic distortion is quoted below 0.1 percent, and the frequency response reaches from 18 Hz to 103 kHz at the -3 dB points. The unit draws 225 W from the mains and is designed for 230 V at 50 to 60 Hz. With valves fitted it measures 420 x 380 x 200 mm and weighs 21 kg net.
Engineering and use context
Its output section uses four KT88 valves, a pair in each channel, while a 12AX7 (ECC83) in each channel handles the input and driver duties. Bias is set automatically, so replacement KT88s only need to be bought as matched pairs or quads, with no manual adjustment. Every power valve has its own 100 mA fuse, which blows if that valve fails and protects the rest of the circuit, and these fuses sit in an easily reached holder on the top plate. The main AC fuse is rated 3.15 A slow-blow. The rear panel carries the RCA signal input, the mono and stereo selector, a signal ground on and off switch, an IEC mains socket with the power switch, and terminals for both channels. In mono mode, supplied terminal jumpers link the left and right terminals of the chosen tap, and the speaker is wired between the L+ and R+ posts. Fezz advises connecting 6 ohm loudspeakers to the 8 ohm tap. Anti-vibration feet sized to the weight of the chassis and a backlit logo are standard. The box also contains a power cord, cotton gloves for valve handling and the user manual. A protective valve cage and an upgraded set of valves are offered as options. Fezz states that a first stage of burn-in is reached after about 10 hours of quiet playback, with the full settling taking 40 to 60 hours at moderate levels.
Pairing
Because there is no volume control, an external line stage or a source with its own level control must drive the Titania, and a turntable must reach it through an external MM or MC phono stage or a deck with a built-in one. For higher power, two Titania units can each be switched to mono and dedicated to one loudspeaker.
Alternatives
Beyond the Titania Power Amplifier and its MK2 revision, Fezz Audio makes no other stereo power amplifier at present.
