The Momentum Z is a single-channel solid-state power amp built by Dan D'Agostino Master Audio Systems, placed between the Momentum and Relentless series in the company range. Engineering and use context

Two linear toroidal transformers of 1,200 VA each feed the circuit, and the Kinetic Drive Regulator keeps the voltage rails stable when mains conditions or speaker loads change. Input impedance is 1 MOhm in the standard setting, and a Z input setting lowers it to 300 ohm for use with D'Agostino preamplifiers. The signal path stays fully analogue, while a software control system monitors bias and operating parameters in real time and reports them through a web browser dashboard over the RJ45 connection. Heat is carried away by solid copper heat sinks, each milled on five axes from a single 19 kg copper billet in an elliptical shape intended to improve cooling. The front carries a Dual Domain meter that combines a 89 mm LCD screen with an analogue meter wand. Power draw is 17 W in standby and 35 W at idle. The same network link also allows remote adjustment of the amplifier, and the case is machined from aluminium.

Pairing

A single balanced XLR input and one pair of binding posts are provided, which means any partnering preamp needs XLR outputs, and stereo playback requires two chassis. The high current rating and low-load capability make the amplifier suited to loudspeakers with low impedance dips, and a dedicated mains circuit is sensible given a maximum consumption quoted in the thousands of watts.
