The Concero 65 LE is the Limited Edition version of the Concero 65 single-ended triode monoblock from Aries Cerat of Greece, the highest of three versions that also include the Reference and the Signature. It descends from the Achilleas amplifier of the brand's Legend Series and keeps the same 813 driving 813 topology, with a directly heated RCA 813 triode used in both the driver and the output stage.

Key specs that matter

Each channel uses three RCA 813 tubes - one in the driver stage and a parallel pair in the output stage - to deliver 65 W. Gain is x3, or 9.5 dB, and the unweighted noise floor sits below 105 dB. Second harmonic distortion is given as -75 dB at 1 W and -55 dB at 10 W, and the signal bandwidth runs from 8 Hz to 110 kHz at 80 percent of maximum power. Output impedance depends on the chosen setting - 1.6 ohm on the 8 ohm position, 0.8 ohm on 4 ohm and 0.4 ohm on 2 ohm. Inputs are RCA plus the proprietary AC link connection. Each monoblock is built as two stacked chassis measuring 510 mm wide, 590 mm deep and 560 mm tall, and weighs 165 kg.

Engineering and use context

No capacitor appears anywhere in the signal path. Capacitance is confined to the power supplies, which use proprietary supercapacitors with an ESR of 1 milliohm. Every supply in the amplifier is independent, with its own transformer and chokes, and the main power transformer is rated at 1,800 VA. Stored energy reaches 3,000 J per channel. The filaments of all three directly heated triodes are fed through triple PI filters totalling 700,000 uF, and in this edition they are also inductively isolated from their supply units. Power consumption is rated at 500 W per channel. The single-chassis Reference is the base of the Concero 65 family, and the maker states that the Signature revised its high-voltage, filament and biasing circuits relative to the Reference.

Pairing

A stereo system requires two units. The three output impedance settings allow matching to the nominal and minimum impedance of the loudspeakers. With its low gain, the Concero 65 LE expects a preamplifier able to supply healthy output voltage. Aries Cerat presents the series as its attempt to push single-ended triode amplification to the highest power and scale it considers possible for the format.
