The Audionet AMP belongs to the Signature line of the German company and is built as a single-channel power amplifier, sold as a single chassis so that a stereo system needs two. In the Audionet range it sits below the MAX and the HEISENBERG monoblocks and is the entry into the brand's mono designs.
Key specs that matter
Power reaches 200 W into 8 ohm, 350 W into 4 ohm, 550 W into 2 ohm and 750 W into 1 ohm, so power keeps rising as the load falls. Frequency response runs from 0 Hz to 300 kHz at -3 dB. Audionet specifies a damping factor above 10,000 at 100 Hz and above 1,800 at 10 kHz. THD plus noise stays below -105 dB at 1 kHz and 35 W into 2 ohm, with typical second and third harmonics of -117 dB and -140 dB at 25 W into 4 ohm, and SMPTE intermodulation is below -110 dB. Noise sits more than 122 dB below full output. The RCA input presents 37 kOhm and 220 pF, the XLR input 3 kOhm and 170 pF. Each unit is 215 mm wide, 190 mm tall and 500 mm deep, weighs 22 kg and draws up to 1,000 W from 120 V or 230 V mains at 50 to 60 Hz.
Engineering and use context
Its design follows the maker's Ultra-Linear-Amplifier concept, and its output stage uses six power MOSFETs whose bias is actively controlled. Input and output stages run from separate power supplies, with an 850 VA toroidal transformer for the output section and an 80 VA toroid for the input section and 82,000 uF of filtering capacity on the main supply. A microprocessor manages operation and continuously watches for DC, high-frequency oscillation, temperature and overload. RCA and XLR inputs are selected electronically, and two pairs of rhodium-plated 4 mm speaker outputs allow bi-wiring. Through an optical Audionet Link input and output, power-up and shutdown can follow other Audionet components, and signal-dependent activation with three sensitivity ranges wakes it when music arrives. A two-line VFD display with a screen saver shows the operating status, and the microprocessor also handles the mono configuration of the unit.
Pairing
Because the output doubles only partly but keeps climbing into very low impedances, the AMP is suited to low-impedance and demanding passive loudspeakers. A preamplifier with balanced outputs matches the XLR inputs, and an Audionet preamplifier with Audionet Link allows the monoblocks to start up with the system.
Alternatives
The Audionet MAX is the bigger mono amplifier of the brand, positioned above the AMP and below the HEISENBERG.
