The H200 is an integrated amplifier from Norwegian maker Hegel that pairs its Class A/B amplifier with a DAC, network streaming and a moving magnet phono input. Recommended prices are USD 4,995, EUR 3,995, GBP 3,500 and AUD 6,995, with shipments starting in late August 2026, and the finish options are black and white. Its amplifier circuit is shared with the analogue-only A200.
Key specs that matter
Rated output from the Class A/B stage is 2 x 150 W into 8 ohm at 1 kHz and 1 percent THD, and the amplifier is specified for loads down to 2 ohm. Distortion is under 0.01 percent at 50 W into 8 ohm and 1 kHz, intermodulation stays below 0.01 percent with 19 kHz and 20 kHz tones, bandwidth reaches from 5 Hz to 100 kHz, crosstalk is under -100 dB, noise sits more than 100 dB below signal and Hegel specifies a damping factor above 4000. For analogue line sources there is a single XLR input plus two RCA inputs. The digital side accepts one coaxial input and a network connection at up to 24 bit and 192 kHz, two optical inputs at 24 bit and 96 kHz, USB-B at 24 bit and 192 kHz, and USB-A for drives holding up to 10,000 songs. The case measures 43 x 41 x 12 cm and weighs 13.6 kg.
Engineering and use context
Hegel's SoundEngine2 circuit detects distortion where it occurs and cancels it before it moves further through the signal path. The MM phono input is based on the V10 phono stage and uses hand-matched FET gain stages. Built-in streaming handles Tidal Connect, lossless Spotify Connect and Qobuz Connect, with AirPlay from Apple, Google Cast, UPnP and internet radio and podcasts through airable, and the unit is Roon Ready. The Hegel Control app handles input selection, volume, playback and UPnP browsing. Control4, Crestron HOME and Crestron SIMPL integration is supported. In the Hegel integrated range the H200 is listed with the H95, H150, H190v, A200, H400 and H600. Digital Input Sense, TV remote learning, auto standby and adjustable display dimming are included, along with a front headphone output and a home theatre bypass.
Pairing
A coaxial digital output enables the DAC Loop feature, which routes the digital signal through an external converter and back into the amplifier. Variable and fixed RCA line outputs are provided for a power amplifier, a subwoofer or a recorder.
Alternatives
Hegel's A200 is the fully analogue sibling of the same generation, with two balanced XLR inputs and no DAC or streaming.
