The ECI 80D is a stereo integrated amplifier made in Norway by Electrocompaniet, built around a proprietary Class A/B output stage. Besides line-level amplification it carries a converter for digital sources, a phono preamplifier for moving magnet cartridges, two-way Bluetooth and a pair of headphone amplifiers, while all functions can be operated from the supplied handset.

Its distortion is under 0.001 percent, signal-to-noise ratio is 83 dB A-weighted and overload margin is 30 dB at 1 kHz. The Bluetooth 5.0 module handles A2DP with SBC, AAC and aptX HD codecs and can receive from phones, tablets and computers as well as transmit to wireless headphones. Front panel sockets in 3.5 mm and 6.35 mm sizes let two listeners use wired headphones at once. The headphone circuit offers 0.4 W into 16 ohms, a maximum of 8 V peak, an output impedance of 10 ohms and distortion plus noise under 0.001 percent. Protection covers DC offset, overload and temperature on the speaker outputs.

Pairing

Record decks fitted with MM pickups connect directly to the phono socket. Headphone loads should be above 16 ohms when one pair is connected and above 32 ohms when both sockets are in use.
