The Amp Pro is a streaming integrated amplifier from WiiM that houses streaming, digital conversion and a class D power stage in one compact box. It went on sale on 16 January 2025 and sits above the entry WiiM Amp, priced at USD 299, with the Amp Pro listed at USD 379 in the USA and GBP 399 in the UK. The casing is aluminium in a Space Gray finish.
Key specs that matter
Power comes from TI TPA3255 class D amplifier chips rated at 60 W per channel into 8 ohm and 120 W per channel into 4 ohm. Conversion is handled by an ESS ES9038Q2M SABRE DAC. Rated SNR is 120 dB and distortion is 0.0005 percent, or -105 dB, measured at 5 W. Inputs cover HDMI ARC, optical, analogue line level on RCA and a USB port for disks, while outputs cover one pair of banana-compatible speaker terminals, a subwoofer pre-out and USB audio out on a USB-A socket. The box measures 217 x 190 x 66 mm and weighs 2.08 kg.
Engineering and use context
Heat from the output stage is carried away by a copper heat pipe and a large aluminium heatsink inside the chassis. Processing runs on a quad-core A53 chip with 512 MB of DRAM and flash memory. Wireless links are tri-band Wi-Fi 6, upgradeable to Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio compatibility, and a wired Ethernet port is also fitted. Supported streaming protocols include Google Cast, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Alexa Cast, DLNA and Roon Ready, and grouping is possible within Google Nest and Alexa multiroom groups. A 10-band graphic equaliser with 24 presets is built into the software. A WiiM voice remote comes in the box and is compatible with both Alexa and Google Assistant, while the front panel carries a volume knob and playback buttons. A crossover for the sub output can be set between 30 Hz and 250 Hz, and the amplifier detects a connected sub automatically. The mains supply is internal and accepts 100 to 240 V AC at 50 or 60 Hz.
Pairing
Using HDMI ARC, a TV can be connected straight to the Amp Pro, so a pair of passive bookshelf speakers and an active subwoofer can form a compact TV and music system in a 20 m2 room. Low-impedance speakers suit it well, since the higher power rating applies there. The line input accepts a turntable only through an external phono stage, as no phono input is provided.
Alternatives
For more power in the same family, the WiiM Amp Ultra is a higher-output streaming amplifier built with dual amplifiers.
