Music First Audio is a British manufacturer of high-end passive and active preamplifiers, building a distinctive reputation for transformer-based volume control technology rather than conventional resistor-based attenuators used by most competing preamplifier designs.
Range & what it's known for
The catalog spans passive and hybrid preamplifiers built around custom-wound transformer volume controls, with Music First Audio's engineering emphasis on the low-noise, distortion-free signal path a well-executed transformer-based attenuator can offer compared with conventional potentiometer or resistor-ladder volume-control circuits.
Who owns it and where it's made
Music First Audio is a British company, designing and hand-winding its transformers domestically in the UK.
The lineup in this catalog
Preamplifiers. Prices span roughly 3,000 to over 10,000 pounds across the current range.
Who it's for
Music First Audio suits buyers specifically seeking uncommon transformer-based volume-control engineering, appealing to listeners who want the low-noise, distortion-free signal path this alternative attenuation technology can offer over conventional preamplifier designs.
