Год основания: 1997
Accuphase Laboratory was founded on June 1, 1972 in Tokyo, originally as Kensonic Laboratory, by brothers Nakaichi and Jiro Kasuga, who had earlier co-founded Trio-Kenwood decades before and left it out of frustration with the compromises of mass-production audio equipment. The company relocated to Yokohama in 1973 and adopted the Accuphase name, a blend of "accurate" and "phase" reflecting its founding commitment to precision audio reproduction during Japan's 1970s hi-fi boom. Its debut products, the P-300 power amplifier, C-200 preamplifier and T-100 tuner, won immediate acclaim, including Japan's Compo Grand Prix for the P-300, establishing a reputation for engineering rigour the company has maintained for more than five decades.
Range & what it's known for
The catalog spans the full electronics signal chain - integrated and separate amplifiers, CD and SACD players, DACs, phono stages, digital equalisers and power conditioners, unified by Accuphase's own patented AAVA (Accuphase Analog Vari-gain Amplifier) volume control, which uses a dual balanced circuit configuration to eliminate the coloration typical of conventional potentiometers, and by ANCC noise and distortion-cancelling circuitry that helps deliver signal-to-noise ratios exceeding 120dB on flagship models. The instantly recognisable gold-and-black faceplate design language has carried across virtually the entire range for decades, giving Accuphase a design consistency few rivals attempt to match.
Who owns it and where it's made
Accuphase Laboratory Inc. remains an independent, privately held Japanese manufacturer, designing and hand-assembling its electronics at its own factory in Yokohama's Aoba-ku district rather than through third-party contract manufacturing, with all products explicitly marketed as made in Japan.
The lineup in this catalog
Amplifiers, disc players, DACs and phono stages (31). Prices span roughly 5,000 dollars for the most accessible current integrated amplifier to well over 50,000 dollars for flagship reference separates such as the C-3900 preamplifier.
Who it's for
Accuphase suits listeners who want a single, internally consistent electronics ecosystem backed by more than five decades of proven engineering and reliability, complete with a recognisable design identity, rather than assembling separates piecemeal across many unrelated manufacturers.
