Turntables — Technics SL-1210GR2

Technics' SL-1210GR2 is a direct-drive record player from the SL-1200/1210 line. This updated model is sold complete with the brand's own tonearm.

Key specs that matter

Playback speeds are 33, 45 and 78 rpm. The DC motor drives the platter directly. The aluminium platter sits on a chassis with fixed feet and no sprung suspension. Dimensions are 453 x 173 x 372 mm and weight is 11.5 kg, substantial for a deck yet far more manageable than the SL-1000RE-S.

Pairing

The tonearm is fitted at the factory, so a cartridge and a phono stage complete the setup.

Alternatives

Technics' SL-1000RE-S sits well above this model, with a denser brass and aluminium platter and a considerably higher price.
