The DMP NEXUS is a bit-perfect network audio ecosystem from 64bitAudio, the German network audio company. It combines a streaming protocol with the DMP ONE network player, carrying audio from a computer across the home network to any USB DAC. It premiered in the Start-Up Area at High End Vienna in June 2026.

Key specs that matter

The system streams PCM up to 384 kHz and DSD up to DSD512 in stereo, with DSD carried natively rather than converted. On Windows it installs an ASIO and WASAPI driver, and on Linux it provides a PipeWire sink. On macOS it runs through a Linux-based virtual appliance native to Apple Silicon. The DMP ONE is an OpenHome renderer and a built-in UPnP/DLNA media server based on ReadyMedia, machined from a single block of aluminium. It can drive two USB DACs at once. It also works as a Roon endpoint without Roon certification, limited within Roon to DSD128 and PCM 192 kHz.

Engineering and use context

Computer audio often loses bit-perfection because the operating system mixes, resamples or alters volume before the signal reaches the DAC. The DMP NEXUS captures the output of any application through its driver or sink, whether Qobuz, TIDAL, foobar2000 or PlayPcmWin, and sends it unchanged over the network to the DMP ONE, which feeds a USB DAC. Moving the DAC away from the computer removes the computer's electrical noise from the DAC's USB connection. 64bitAudio lets the owner verify bit-perfect delivery at three points, the CORE software on the computer, the DMP ONE and the DAC's own display. Because it relies on open standards, including OpenHome, created by Linn, it has no subscription or proprietary app and works with any USB Audio class DAC. The ability to drive two USB DACs from the same bit-perfect source suits comparisons between DACs or feeding two rooms. The built-in UPnP server lets the DMP ONE serve a local library without a separate NAS application. Setup is intended to be simple, with installation of the driver on Windows or selection of the sink on Linux. 64bitAudio stresses that users keep their choice of app, service and DAC, with no lock-in.

Pairing

The DMP NEXUS pairs any Windows, Linux or Mac computer with any USB DAC. Roon users can add the DMP ONE as an endpoint.

Alternatives

64bitAudio's DMP ONE is the network player of the NEXUS system, usable on its own as an OpenHome renderer.
