The Ultima from Magnetar Audio is a reference universal disc and media transport built on the company's MKII platform and split across two chassis. It plays UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, CD, SACD and DVD-Audio, as well as USB media and high-resolution network streams, and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ video.

Key specs that matter

DSD is sent as DoP over AES/EBU to an external converter. A unified 10 MHz master clock sets timing across the whole player, and a dedicated DC power stage based on BYD lithium cells isolates critical circuits from mains noise. The list price is USD 12,000.

Engineering and use context

The chassis is heavily reinforced to minimise vibration, internal components are isolated from each other, and grounding and power distribution are controlled. The disc mechanism was refined for more stable reading and better vibration management.
