Conversion uses the Wolfson WM8740 chip, with user-selectable upsampling to 48, 96 or 192 kHz at 24 bit alongside native 44.1 kHz 16 bit. Frequency response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz within 0.02 dB, and THD+N is 0.0018%. Analogue output is 7 V from the balanced XLR socket or 3.5 V from single-ended RCA, with output impedance of 100 and 75 ohms respectively. Signal to noise ratio is 114 dB and dynamic range 100 dB.
Engineering and use context
Its regulated, filtered power supply has separate sections for the analogue and digital circuits. Besides the analogue outputs there are a galvanically isolated coaxial digital output and an optical output, letting an outboard DAC take over conversion. The anodized aluminium case in matte black measures 58 x 450 x 375 mm and weighs 6.1 kg, and a later revision added an updated front display.
