Subwoofers — Audio Pro SW-5

The SW-5 is a powered subwoofer from Audio Pro, positioned below the SW-10 in the brand's subwoofer range. Audio Pro is a Swedish manufacturer known for accessible, well-designed lifestyle and hi-fi audio products, and this subwoofer reflects that same broadly appealing, easy-to-live-with design philosophy.

Key specs that matter

Rated response is 40 Hz to 120 Hz. The built-in amplifier is rated at 200 W, a solid figure for a small to medium room. At 280 x 280 x 295 mm and 11.6 kg it is a moderately sized cabinet, its roughly cube-shaped proportions offering flexible corner or wall placement in most rooms.

Sound and use context

Expect solid bass reinforcement for a small to medium room, in keeping with Audio Pro's accessible product positioning - a sensible, unpretentious choice rather than one built to chase reference-level extremes of output or extension.

Pairing

Standard line-level or speaker-level subwoofer inputs work with any stereo or AV receiver offering a subwoofer output, so integration should present no particular challenge regardless of the rest of the system.

Alternatives

The SW-10 sits above this model in Audio Pro's range for more output, worth the step up if this model's 200 W amplifier proves insufficient for a larger or more demanding room. Audio Pro's broader catalogue spans both traditional hi-fi components and more lifestyle-oriented wireless speakers, and this subwoofer's straightforward specification suggests it is aimed squarely at buyers wanting dependable, unfussy bass reinforcement rather than a specification-chasing flagship product. A few minutes spent testing different corner or wall placements once installed will likely reveal meaningfully better bass evenness than accepting the first position tried. Audio Pro also typically includes a reasonably straightforward setup guide aimed at non-specialist buyers, consistent with the brand broader focus on approachable, easy-to-use products. Overall this remains a sensible, low-risk choice for a first subwoofer purchase rather than an ambitious reference-level statement piece. A modest mains cable and standard RCA interconnect are all that this straightforward design requires to perform as specified. Delivery in most markets is straightforward given how widely Audio Pro products are already distributed across Europe and beyond. Warranty terms should still be confirmed directly with the selling retailer.
