The Mercury is the powered subwoofer from the Australian company Kyron Audio, designed to extend the very lowest octaves of the Kronos system and later supplied in a special edition as part of the Gaia system.

Key specs that matter

A single 12-inch driver made in the USA offers a linear peak-to-peak excursion of 46 mm and 64 mm maximum excursion. At its US debut the built-in amplifier was quoted at 2000 W maximum output, while later Gaia documentation lists a 2500 W amplifier sourced from Denmark for the subwoofer section.

Engineering and use context

The curved enclosure is moulded from a proprietary composite resin with carbon fibre reinforcement. A 64-bit, 96 kHz DSP preamplifier provides parametric EQ, variable time delay and adjustable filter settings, so the sub can be integrated with the main speakers in the processing domain. The launch price was USD 19,900 each.
