The Versura V2 from AUER ACOUSTICS is a tower speaker built as a three-way closed box with four drivers. It shares its height and width with the larger Versura V4, but its cabinet is shallower, and it has no side-firing woofer. AUER presents the look as restrained and understated.
Key specs that matter
A 34 mm beryllium dome handles the treble, a 12 cm driver covers the midrange, and two 18 cm bass-midrange units work below it. AUER quotes a response of 30 Hz to 40 kHz within plus or minus 3 dB. Sensitivity is 89 dB measured at 2.83 V and 1 m, nominal impedance is 8 ohm and the minimum impedance is 6 ohm. The recommended minimum amplifier power is 20 W. Each cabinet measures 119.1 x 22 x 35 cm (H x W x D), while AUER lists 78.4 kg for each unit.
Engineering and use context
AUER builds the enclosure from tankwood, a dense natural timber bonded with phenolic resin under very high pressure. AUER chooses it because the pressing raises rigidity while the material keeps a degree of internal damping, and the panels are 30 mm thick. With a sealed enclosure the V2 carries no reflex port on the front or rear, so the bass roll-off is set by the closed volume and the two bass-midrange units rather than by a tuned vent. In the filter network, the capacitor positions go to Mundorf's SESGO series (a silver, gold and oil type) and every remaining part is sourced from Jantzen. Wiring inside the box is silver-rich Van den Hul cable. The speaker stands on stainless steel feet developed for this series, which carry ceramic balls and give three-point support. Terminals allow optional bi-wiring. The ten colours on offer include Walnut, Oak Wood, Traffic White, Indian Red, Lugano Blue, Chalk and Deep Black among others, each in a matte or high-gloss finish, and special finishes are available on request.
Pairing
A load that stays moderate across the band is an easy task for most solid-state amplifiers and for many valve designs with a matching tap, and the low recommended power leaves room for modest integrated amplifiers. Owners with two stereo power amplifiers or separate cable runs can connect the bass and upper sections separately through the bi-wire posts. Since the V2 uses no port, its low-frequency output does not depend on keeping a vent clear of walls or furniture.
Alternatives
The AUER ACOUSTICS Versura V4 adds a side-mounted 32 cm woofer in a deeper 46 cm cabinet and extends the quoted response to 20 Hz.
