Of the three floorstanding models, the nuVero nova 12 is the smallest in the nuVero nova series, which Nubert of Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany, announced at High End 2025. It sits below the nova 14 and nova 18. The series also includes the compact nova 9 and nova 5, the nova 7 center and the nova 1w subwoofer. Nubert lists the nova 12 at EUR 1,950 per speaker including VAT, or EUR 3,900 per pair.
Key specs that matter
The nova 12 is a passive three-way reflex-loaded speaker carrying five drivers - two woofers, two midrange units and one tweeter. The woofers hand over at 360 Hz and the tweeter takes over from 2,100 Hz, with phase-aligned crossover slopes of 24 dB per octave built from high-grade parts. Nubert quotes 32 Hz to 28,000 Hz at -3 dB and a wider range of 28 Hz to 33,000 Hz. Sensitivity is 85 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m into a nominal 4 ohm load. Power handling is 280 W continuous and 370 W peak. Each cabinet is 20.8 cm wide, 111.2 cm tall and 35.8 cm deep, the footprint grows to 32.3 cm in width with the base fitted, and each speaker weighs 30.9 kg.
Engineering and use context
The woofers and midrange drivers use four-layer carbon membranes, and the midrange units run on neodymium magnets. The tweeter has a metal dome with Nubert's NonResonant Technology, meant to suppress the ringing typical of metal diaphragms. The reflex port fires downward, leaving the visible surfaces free of vents. Two rear bridges let the owner adjust the bass for wall proximity and switch a diffuse field equalisation for the treble, following the maker's WideStage and Balanced Field concepts and its UltraDirectivity approach for an even spread across the listening area. The one-piece enclosure has a softly rounded front baffle in black or white piano lacquer, and it stands on a wide, stable base with black metal feet that ship with the speaker. The box includes 4 m of 2 x 2.5 mm2 speaker cable, a microfibre cloth and assembly gloves.
Pairing
Nubert names a minimum of 80 W per channel for the amplifier. The impedance curve is described as tube-friendly, and the maker positions the nova 12 both for stereo listening and as a front speaker in home cinema systems.
Alternatives
The Nubert nuVero nova 14 steps up within the same series as a larger floorstander, about 140 cm tall with two reflex ports and bi-wiring terminals, listed at EUR 2,950 per speaker.
