The Mozart Infinity is a powered floorstanding system from Vienna Acoustics of Austria that combines streaming, a DAC and amplification with a slim tower cabinet. Only one of the two speakers holds the electronics, and it feeds the second enclosure through an ordinary speaker cable. The streaming platform was developed with Stream Unlimited. US prices start at USD 14,995 per pair in cherry, piano black or piano white, and the rosewood version costs USD 16,995.

Key specs that matter

Both towers carry a 1.1 inch hand-coated silk dome tweeter and two 6 inch composite cone woofers with the flat X4P spidercone and a recessed fabric centre cone, arranged as a 2.5-way system inside a bass reflex box. A Hypex stereo amplifier rated at 125 W per channel powers the pair, and the ESS ES9038Q2M converter handles streams up to 384 kHz and 24 bit. Response is quoted as 30 Hz to 22 kHz. Each speaker measures 216 mm wide, 972 mm high and 343 mm deep and weighs 20 kg.

Engineering and use context

Although it is sold as an active speaker, both cabinets keep conventional passive two-and-a-half-way crossovers, a traditional Vienna Acoustics approach, and light DSP is used to extend the bass down to its rated limit. Inputs cover analogue RCA and balanced XLR, coaxial digital up to 192 kHz and 24 bit, TOSLINK optical up to 96 kHz and 24 bit, and HDMI eARC up to 192 kHz and 24 bit for a television. Network playback supports AirPlay 2, Roon Ready operation, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, UPnP and DLNA, plus internet radio and podcasts through Airable, with Qobuz reached via Roon, AirPlay 2 or UPnP. Three buttons or capacitive sensors on top of the main speaker change volume and switch standby, and apps for Android and iOS provide full control. Since only the primary tower needs mains power, the second one can stand where no outlet is available, linked by a single speaker lead. The outrigger feet used on the company's floorstanders adjust height and tilt, which helps levelling on uneven floors.

Pairing

No external amplifier or preamplifier is needed. A record player through its phono preamp, a CD transport on the coaxial input or a television on HDMI eARC can connect straight to the primary speaker, and streaming services run without a separate network player.

Alternatives

For a buyer who prefers a separate amplifier, the Vienna Acoustics range also includes a passive floorstander in the Beethoven Concert Grand Reference.
