The Cadenza Gen3 is the current revision of the compact three-way tower speaker made by AudiaZ in Rosenheim in Upper Bavaria, a company whose speakers are designed by Dr. Helmuth Weber. Compared with the earlier Cadenza, the third generation keeps the cabinet concept but brings a revised crossover and modified bass damping inside the enclosure. AudiaZ describes it as a full-range design for medium-sized rooms, suitable for rooms up to 30 m2.

Key specs that matter

All drivers come from Accuton and use ceramic diaphragms, with the midrange and tweeter taken from the Accuton CELL line. The earlier Cadenza, which shares the layout, pairs a 30 mm tweeter and a 100 mm midrange with two 173 mm woofers. Crossover points sit at 180 Hz and 2 kHz. The quoted range is 29 Hz to 40 kHz, efficiency is 87.5 dB at 1 W and 1 m, and the nominal load is 4 ohm, with a minimum of 3.8 ohm. Maximum level is 98 dB continuous and 110 dB peak. Each speaker is 24.4 cm wide, 112 cm tall and 24.4 cm deep and weighs 36 kg.

Engineering and use context

AudiaZ calls the cabinet shape OVO. Its seven-sided cross section avoids parallel walls through 45 degree edge angles, and the two woofers are mounted on angled faces 90 degrees apart, firing to the left and right rather than forward. The enclosure is made of 19 mm maple multiplex with heavy internal bracing, and since 2022 a 20 mm steel base plate has been fitted. A bass reflex port fires downward. Crossover parts include mica capacitors plus film types sourced from Duelund, Intertechnik, Mundorf and BMC, and for Gen3 AudiaZ added metal film resistors. Flat ribbon cables of solid silver, insulated with extruded GORE Teflon, carry the signal inside. WBT binding posts are fitted for single wiring, and finishes include pearl gloss black, pearl gloss white and golden ebony high gloss. The earlier Cadenza was listed at EUR 28,000 to 29,500 per pair.

Pairing

AudiaZ asks for at least 50 W of Class A power per channel. The low nominal and minimum impedance mean the chosen amplifier has to remain stable when the impedance drops. Placement guidance for the earlier model is at least 60 cm from the rear wall, and the side-firing woofers need clear space at the flanks, so the towers should not stand tight against furniture or side walls.

Alternatives

The AudiaZ Cadenza Riva Diamond is a floorstanding development of the same design with a diamond tweeter and a new Accuton midrange.
