The Talis R 330 from T+A Elektroakustik of Herford is the two-way bookshelf member of the Talis 330 range, and it sits beside the Talis S 330 floor-standing model. T+A announced it on 4 February 2025 at EUR 6,900 per pair, and the American price was USD 9,980 per pair. Buyers choose between black anodised and brushed silver anodised aluminium, and every surface of the cabinet is brushed by hand. T+A builds each pair only after it has been ordered.

Key specs that matter

The Talis R 330 works as a bass reflex system with one 170 mm bass and midrange driver and one 25 mm dome tweeter with a magnesium membrane. A double-sided Fast Signal Response crossover divides the band between woofer and tweeter at 2,000 Hz. The rated range runs from 35 Hz to 40,000 Hz, sensitivity is 85 dB at 1 W and 1 m and nominal impedance is 4 ohm. Power handling is 140 W nominal and 200 W music power. Each box measures 37 x 21 x 28 cm, with the depth figure including the terminal, and weighs 15 kg.

Engineering and use context

T+A took the bass unit of the Talis S 330 and modified it to work in a two-way system inside a small enclosure. It pairs a strong magnetic motor with a long-throw suspension, and its StarStabilizer structure is meant to keep the cone moving like a piston and to stop membrane breakup. The magnesium dome is mounted with shallow horn loading. The whole enclosure is aluminium - one sheet of brushed metal is bent around the sides and the back, with seams only at the two rear corners, and internal aluminium bracing adds rigidity. No screws are visible from the outside. The front follows T+A's WrapAround Baffle principle, which the maker uses to reduce diffraction and reflections at high frequencies. Slim side walls give an internal volume of more than 20 litres even though the outer size is small. The generously sized bass reflex port exits through the back. The grille is a perforated aluminium plate lined with black cloth, and the crossover network was redesigned for this model to give each driver fast transient response and clean signal transfer.

Pairing

Given the modest sensitivity and low impedance, a partner amplifier should handle difficult loads with ease, and the nominal power rating allows a strong partner. The dedicated LS 300 stand from T+A measures 67 x 26 x 33 cm and has integrated spike routing plus a cable management system.

Alternatives

Within the T+A catalogue the Pulsar R 21 is another bookshelf speaker.
