The Fischer & Fischer SN/SL 70 is a two-way passive compact loudspeaker made in Germany with a natural slate cabinet. The SN version uses natural slate, while the SL version has polished and lacquered slate.

Key specs that matter

Inside sit a 145 mm aluminium long-throw woofer and a 28 mm dome tweeter. Frequency range is quoted as 45 Hz to 25 kHz, maximum sound pressure is 105 dB, and the nominal impedance is 4 ohms. The cabinet stands 330 mm high, 190 mm wide and 250 mm deep, at 17.5 kg.

Engineering and use context

Slate walls 15 to 20 mm thick are used for their resonance-damping properties, limiting cabinet vibration. Matching aluminium tube stands with slate base plates are offered as an option.

Alternatives

The smaller KLEIN, with its external crossover, is the other compact slate model from Fischer & Fischer.
