The Econik SIX is a fully active bookshelf loudspeaker from HiFi Pilot, a young German company. Priced at €3,699, the Econik SIX sets new standards for compact loudspeakers by combining the powerful acoustics typically associated with a genuine floorstander into a considerably smaller footprint.

Key specs that matter

Frequency response reaches down to 23Hz, a remarkable figure for a compact bookshelf design and one HiFi Pilot specifically calls a milestone for audio enthusiasts at this size. The driver complement uses two 6.5-inch drivers paired with a top-mounted dome tweeter from Norwegian manufacturer SEAS as standard, or alternatively an AMT (Air Motion Transformer) ribbon-type tweeter from German specialist Mundorf as a premium upgrade- Stereo Guide specifically scored the AMT-equipped version 95/100, praising its authentic sound, high resolution and audiophile smoothness alongside a noticeable step up in both sound quality and connectivity over the standard SEAS configuration. Being fully active, all amplification, crossover and signal processing live inside the cabinet itself, engineered specifically to deliver a pure, unadulterated signal to the drivers for reproduction the brand states is every bit the equal of the original recorded sound. WiSA wireless technology enables cable-free, high-resolution audio transmission between components. Eight distinct sound presets - Standard, Close to the Wall, Brilliant, Soft, 3-way Voice Optimized, Lounge, Studio and Desk - can be downloaded, copied to a USB stick and loaded onto each speaker via a rear USB-A socket, letting a listener tailor bass foundation or treble character to a specific room without any app or smartphone required. An automatic calibration system, onboard DSP and streaming capability round out the feature set, with a separately available Stereo or Surround Hub unlocking additional streaming and multi-room functionality, including wireless surround configurations. Custom wood veneer finishes, including oak, walnut and wild apple, plus optional cleanly finished speaker grilles, are available.

Sound and use context

Expect a virtual stage that is extremely generous in both width and depth, built up behind the speakers themselves - voices and instruments appear a touch larger than normal, a trait that lends genuine charm to the reproduction while the space between performers remains well-defined and spacious, with sufficient three-dimensional imaging and clearly outlined instrumental placement.

Pairing

The USB-loadable sound presets let a buyer adapt this speaker's tuning to a specific room's acoustic conditions or placement (including close to a wall) without any additional hardware, and the optional Stereo or Surround Hub extends the system into full wireless multi-room or home-cinema surround use.

Alternatives

Econik's own FOUR sits below this model as a more compact, lower-priced bookshelf alternative, while the newer Econik ELEVEN launched at High End 2025 Munich as a considerably more ambitious 3.5-way fully active system, worth comparing directly if this SIX's scale and price don't match a specific room or budget.
