The nuZeo 3 is an active two-way stand-mount speaker from Nubert, the German loudspeaker maker from Swabia, and no model in the active nuZeo series is smaller, which also includes the nuZeo 4, 6c, 11 and 15 and the nuZeo 8w subwoofer. It became available on 31 January 2025 at EUR 950 per speaker or EUR 1,900 per pair, with aluminium traverse feet included, and matching stands cost EUR 400 per pair.

A 26 mm Tetoron silk dome tweeter with a cotton-damped rear chamber works with a 148 mm carbon-fibre mid-woofer that has a double-layer polymer coating and a balanced-force magnet system. The crossover point is 1,950 Hz. Nubert rates the built-in amplification at 200 W per speaker. Frequency response is 44 Hz to 22 kHz at -3 dB and 40 Hz to 22.5 kHz at -6 dB. Analogue inputs are two RCA and one XLR, two coaxial S/PDIF sockets and an AES/EBU socket take digital signals up to 24 bit and 192 kHz, and a coaxial digital output is provided. Standby consumption is below 0.5 W. Each speaker measures 33.2 x 17.9 x 27 cm without feet, or 36 x 24.9 x 29 cm with them, and weighs 9.7 kg. It is lacquered in black or white to a piano finish.
Engineering and use context
The crossover is a DSP Linkwitz-Riley design that Nubert describes as phase-true, and the amplifier module is also controlled by DSP. Because the filtering happens digitally before amplification, the drivers connect straight to the amplifier without passive components in between. The rear bass-reflex port is rounded at both ends and shaped for smooth airflow, which reduces air noise at high levels. The cotton damping behind the tweeter dome absorbs the sound it radiates backwards. A carbon-fibre cone is stiff and light, and the polymer coating damps it. A balanced-force magnet system keeps the magnetic force on the voice coil more even across its travel. X-Connect wireless can send and receive audio between Nubert products, and X-Connect Surround receives signals as part of a surround system. The coaxial output passes the digital signal on to another component. Setup and control run through Nubert's X-Remote app on iOS or Android devices.

A streamer, CD transport or television connects directly through the digital inputs, and a preamplifier through XLR. The nuZeo 8w subwoofer adds deep bass for a room of about 20 m2 or larger.
