Scansonic HD lists the M15.2 as the two-way stand-mount member of its M range. The Danish label is owned by the Pandrup company DANTAX Radio A/S, and its sister brand is the high-end maker Raidho Acoustics. It was announced together with the M20.2 and M30.2 floorstanders, with availability from around April 2025 and a European retail price of EUR 1,500 per pair. Scansonic describes it as a compact model intended for smaller living spaces.

Key specs that matter

The M15.2 uses a Kapton ribbon tweeter driven by neodymium, listed at 71.5 by 44.5 mm. Under it is a 6.5 inch mid-bass woofer with a honeycomb cone, and a passive bass driver with a paper cone is mounted on the back panel. The two active drivers meet at a second order crossover set to 3.2 kHz. Scansonic specifies a nominal impedance of 8 ohms with a minimum of 4 ohms and a sensitivity of 87 dB. The finish options are White Silk and Black Silk.

Engineering and use context

Every model in the M Series uses rear-facing passive radiators in place of a conventional bass reflex port, which the company links to the absence of port noise such as chuffing and turbulence. For the mid-bass drivers of the series, Scansonic uses a cone built from four materials, chosen to combine strength and rigidity with elasticity and internal damping. The crossover network is assembled with high-grade capacitors, inductors and resistors that the brand says are usually reserved for considerably more expensive loudspeakers. A ribbon tweeter is fitted across all three M models, and Scansonic points to its much lower moving mass compared with a dome. The company states that its design team worked on Raidho speakers for more than 15 years before developing Scansonic models, and that designing around a ribbon tweeter with a very light diaphragm sealed at the edges was one of the core Raidho techniques it set out to keep. In the same series, the M20.2 is a 2.5-way floorstander with two 5.25 inch mid-bass woofers, while the M30.2 adds a third way through a 4.5 inch midrange driver and two bass drivers.

Pairing

Scansonic recommends using amplifiers rated between 50 W and 150 W for driving the M15.2 speakers.

Alternatives

The Scansonic HD L-7 Stand-Mount belongs to the budget L range and combines a 1 inch silk dome tweeter, a paper sandwich woofer and a heavily braced bass-reflex cabinet with increased wall thickness.
