The FRIDA is a two-way passive stand-mount loudspeaker from SV-Audio, originally named Storgaard & Vestskov, a Danish company in Rønne on the island of Bornholm. It was founded in 2023 by the designer and CEO Casper Vestskov Poulsen with the cofounder Kim Storgaard, and the sound engineer Jens Posselt contributed to the acoustic development. The company builds on Poulsen's more than 25 years in precision metal manufacturing. FRIDA is the smallest SV-Audio model, intended for smaller rooms, and costs USD 20,000 or EUR 16,950 per pair in satin and USD 22,000 or EUR 18,650 in high gloss, with its stand included.

Key specs that matter

A 38 mm silk-dome ring-radiator tweeter with a neodymium motor from the SB Acoustics Satori series works with a 5 inch mineral-reinforced polypropylene mid-woofer from the SEAS Prestige series. The crossover is a 12 dB per octave Linkwitz-Riley type at 2750 Hz. SV-Audio specifies a frequency response of 38 Hz to 20 kHz at ±3 dB, sensitivity of 86 dB ±2 dB, a nominal impedance of 6 ohm and an amplifier range of 30 to 150 W. With the integral stand, each speaker measures 30 x 105 x 42 cm and weighs 20.5 kg, and a pair ships at 77 kg. It suits rooms up to 30 m2 and should stand at least 30 cm from the rear wall.

Engineering and use context

Aluminium parts are CNC-machined from T6 aerospace-grade alloy, including the front baffle and a bottom panel about 25 mm thick, and the rest of the cabinet is an HDF composite. A radiating sun pattern machined into the baffle is intended to reduce reflections around the drivers. The cabinet rakes backwards, rising from about 33 cm at the front to 36 cm at the rear, so the drivers are offset in time. The crossover uses low-resistance components, and the internal wiring is a hybrid of pure copper with silver plating. A ring radiator has an annular diaphragm around a central phase plug, which keeps the moving area light and stiff. The aluminium stand is about 69 cm tall, with a 76 mm cylindrical pillar and a contoured four-point base. Finishes are satin or high gloss, with automotive colour codes on request and grey or black metal accents. The warranty is two years, extended to five years when the speakers are registered within 90 days.

Pairing

The moderate sensitivity and the nominal load call for a solid-state amplifier inside SV-Audio's recommended power window when the room is about 20 m2.

Alternatives

The Gro and Freja are floorstanders, so SV-Audio offers no second stand-mount model.
