The Classic Aura is a battery-powered Bluetooth stereo speaker from Pure, a brand whose range is built largely around DAB radios, and it joined the retro-styled Classic family in August 2025 at a recommended price of EUR 129.99, or GBP 119.99 in the UK. The same family covers the Classic Mini, Classic H4, H4i and H6 radios, the Classic C-D6i and the Classic Stereo and Classic Stereo Mini music systems. The Aura is offered in Cotton White with oak, Coffee Brown with walnut and plain Black, and its defining feature is a lighting strip at the rear.

Key specs that matter

The speaker is a two-way stereo design with two 2 inch tweeters, one for each channel, a shared 3.5 inch woofer and an oval passive radiator that fires to the rear. Total amplifier power is 40 W. Wireless input is Bluetooth, and a 3.5 mm AUX socket takes a wired source. The built-in 5000 mAh battery gives up to 30 hours of play, a figure that falls as volume and lighting use rise. The cabinet is 25.2 cm wide, 15 cm high and 10.6 cm deep, and the unit weighs 1.96 kg. Splash protection is rated IPX2.

Engineering and use context

Using two small tweeters and one woofer lets a compact box give left and right channels in the treble while bass, which carries little directional information, is summed through a single cone. The passive radiator is an undriven diaphragm moved by air pressure inside the box, and it extends low frequencies without the port noise of a bass reflex opening. Three equaliser presets named Eco, Comfort and Dynamic replace an app, since all control happens on the unit itself. The light strip offers ten modes, among them a Disco Beat mode that pulses with the music, dynamic effects called Energetic Fire, Aurora Borealis and Calm Ocean, and five gradients named Sunset, Blossom, Lilac, Leaf and Coral. Charging is by USB-C from a 15 to 30 W adapter, and the same port can feed a phone, so the speaker works as a power bank. Unusually for this class, the battery can be removed with a Phillips screwdriver and replaced by the owner. The body is wrapped in wood-look foil behind a plastic grille, and a rubber carry strap is fitted.

Pairing

Phones, tablets and laptops stream to it over Bluetooth 5.3 without a dongle, while a record player fitted with its own phono preamplifier, or a portable music player, can be cabled into the AUX socket.

Alternatives

The Pure Woodland is the outdoor Bluetooth speaker with DAB+ and FM tuners, IP67 sealing and up to 14 hours of battery play.
