Key specs that matter
Amplification totals 2 x 75 W, one channel per speaker. Both enclosures are ported two-way designs combining a 4.5 inch coated paper woofer and a 1 inch soft dome tweeter, crossed over at 2,800 Hz. The frequency range is 47 Hz to 24 kHz within 6 dB, and Audio Pro quotes in-room bass response down to 39 Hz at -6 dB. Each speaker measures 238 x 150 x 200 mm, and the pair weighs 6.43 kg, split between 3.46 kg for the active unit and 2.97 kg for the passive partner.
Engineering and use context
Wireless connection uses Bluetooth 4.2 and dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac on 2.4 and 5 GHz, with streaming up to 24 bit and 96 kHz. Multiroom operation works through the Audio Pro app, AirPlay 1 and 2 and Google Cast. The app covers Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music, iHeart Radio, Pandora, SoundCloud and more than a dozen other services, offers a 10-band equaliser with ready-made modes such as bass booster and gaming, and stores 5 presets for quick recall. Bluetooth reception supports the AAC codec. Wired inputs are a line-level RCA input, an optical digital input and an HDMI port with ARC, and there is a subwoofer output on the rear. The cabinets are MDF with removable fabric grilles. There is no 3.5 mm jack and no USB-C connector, and analogue or optical signal cables are not included. Only the left speaker is powered and carries the mains socket, feeding the right one over the supplied cable, and standby consumption is 1.85 W. The box contains a remote control, a power cable, a speaker cable for linking the two units and a manual.
Pairing
The HDMI ARC input lets the A28 W serve as a stereo TV speaker system, and the RCA line input accepts a turntable with its own phono preamp or a CD player. In a room of around 20 m2 the two speakers can stand on furniture or stands, and the sub output allows a powered subwoofer to extend the low end.
Alternatives
The original Audio Pro A28 is the earlier bookshelf model in this line, sharing the same driver layout and HDMI ARC.
